1. It's ok to rain

First of all, the rain itself is not the problem. Any component of an air conditioning system that is outside should be constructed to withstand typical weather conditions. 3. Horizontal Winds Could Occur

Another issue is wind, which can cause rain to fall horizontally during intense storms. Furthermore, high gusts could push debris into the sides of the units, clogging filters. Soft covers, essentially the same as the ones used to cover units facing the rain, can protect vacant units.

Those coverings will only help you if you need to use the air conditioner at home. In some cases, the best barrier is one that keeps wind from reaching the unit while still being far away from it. Another option would be to utilize well-rooted bushes or a short, sturdy fence.

4. Hail is a problem
